Work as a Clinical Psychologist

I work with adults, young adults and teenagers in a therapeutic context.

Being a psychologist for adults involves creating a supportive, confidential environment where clients can openly explore their emotions, challenges, and goals. I help individuals navigate complex issues such as stress, anxiety, relationships, and trauma, guiding them toward self-awareness and healthier coping strategies. Through empathetic listening and evidence-based techniques, I empower clients to heal, grow, and develop a stronger sense of self, enabling them to lead more balanced and fulfilling lives.

In working with teens for over 20 years as a teacher and as a psychologist I have seen the power the group exerts over the internal world of teens at this developmental stage. Teens often come to therapy to get a better understanding of how to connect more with others and have a bigger sense of belonging. Through therapy teens can learn how to self-regulate and to also identify their emotions so they can better decide and choose what to do in order to have more control over their (re) actions.

Here are a mix of several statements by different teens in therapy over the years:

“Friendship anxiety is a common challenge for teens, including myself. I used to worry about being accepted by peers, constantly questioning my worth. However, I've realized this anxiety doesn't define me; it's part of growing up.”

“Therapy, self-reflection, and support from friends and family have helped me confront these fears. True friends accept me as I am and provide emotional support. Though I still face friendship anxiety, I'm learning to overcome it daily, confident that with the right support, I can conquer any obstacles.”

My Experience

I am a Clinical Psychologist, Counselor, and a Teacher.

My qualifications include a Clinical Psychology degree from ISPA in 2002 and a PGCE from the Institute of Education (UCL) in London in 2006.

My career started with roles at Hospital de Santa Maria in Lisbon and Middlesex Hospital in London, where I engaged with adolescent populations and their families within paediatric and multidisciplinary settings, respectively.

I have 18 years in teaching and worked in diverse educational environments across London, both inner and outer, by imparting Psychology knowledge to students from diverse backgrounds.

In international education, I assumed leadership at Island School in Hong Kong in 2009, working in the Psychology department and prioritizing the emotional well-being and academic success of students through professional development initiatives.

Transitioning to Harrow International School Bangkok, I took on the role of Social and Emotional School Counselor, offering support to students spanning Year 7 to Year 13.

At KIS Bangkok I set up the DP Psychology department and was Head of Pastoral Care for High School. Together with my team I diligently cultivated students' social and emotional competencies, positively influencing their overall well-being and academic achievements.

The teaching experience went side by side from traditional education into private practice in Bangkok, where I collaborated with a diverse team, providing parental guidance and therapeutic support to facilitate healthy adolescent and adult development.
